Run-length encode

CodingAlgorithms & data structuresEntry–Mid~14 min

Run-length encode a string s: replace each maximal run of one repeated character with that character followed by the run length as a decimal number. For example 'aaabbc' becomes 'a3b2c1'. Every character, even a run of length 1, gets a count. The string contains only lowercase letters and may be empty (return '').

Implement
run_length_encode(s: str) → str
Examples
in["aaabbc"]out"a3b2c1"
What a strong answer looks like

State your approach and its time/space complexity out loud before you optimize. Handle the edge cases (empty input, duplicates, overflow), and say why you chose this over the brute force. Green tests are the floor, not the grade.
