First occurrence characters

CodingAlgorithms & data structuresEntry–Mid~10 min

Given a string s, return a new string containing each character only the first time it appears, preserving the original left-to-right order. For example 'banana' becomes 'ban'. The string may be empty and may contain any printable characters.

Implement
dedup_keep_order(s: str) → str
Examples
in["banana"]out"ban"
What a strong answer looks like

State your approach and its time/space complexity out loud before you optimize. Handle the edge cases (empty input, duplicates, overflow), and say why you chose this over the brute force. Green tests are the floor, not the grade.
